Sope Creek - Chattahoochee National Park

Sope Creek is one of the many parks that are in the Chattahoochee National Park system. The hiking is a nice challenge for the casual hiker. Among the sites you will see the ruins of the Sope Creek Paper Mill which operated until July 6, 1864 when it was burned to the ground during Sherman's march through Georgia. It was rebuilt, but destroyed by fire again in 1870. On your hike through the park you will also pass Sibley pond, strole by the Scibner Family cemetary, as well as enjoy elevation changes, rock formations and see many specicies of local plant life.
